恋雨 / 冬季到台北来看雨

After reading 冬季到台北来看雨, I kept thinking of its end quotes.

有些人,因为太爱对方而失去自己.
有些人,则因为太爱自己而失去对方.

This has long been a known fact. Everybody knows that if you are afraid of love, you will never be loved. Everybody knows that if you are afraid of life, you have never lived before. But yet everybody chose to never be loved, never lived before. So if someone, just someone shows the courage to open up, everybody becomes in awed! And then the thought that runs in their minds is "I will never be as daring as that person. It is just too embarassing!"

So should I open my heart out and gets chided for being a 笑柄 or should I stay muted and lived forever in the dark...

Being vocal in this story only has 2 endings :
1) You get the dream guy who is also waiting for you.
2) You get insulted by the jerk who is just making fun of you.

Life is but a gamble, that is my conclusion.

Rain & Tears Epi 3

Of all the character, i like the 'Fei Fei' very much. This little gold fish has big big eyes which will stare at you when you talk to him. This little fish is a gift from the male lead to the female. A companion for the female lead when the male lead is not around. A good listener to hear about what the female lead's feelings are. Somehow I suspect that the first 3 episodes are happy, which is too good to be true, and the tears will come pouring soon...

Sex and the City - Last Season

Finally watched the last season of SATC. At the end, Carrie said this :

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."

And it really set me thinking, maybe the last time on what relationship is for. It is just there for you to cherish and appreciate it.

Halfway down the season, I was at this one episode where Carrie commented about nit-picking on Jack Burger. Reminded me what my friend had asked me a few days ago. And reinforced me that we really are critical at people we loved, which is so unfair actually. Also reminded me that many episodes ago, Carrie was so self-critical of herself i.e. every human being is a self-critic.
Another thing that occured to me is the fact that Carrie took 6 years to go back one big round and get hitched up with Mr. Big. Is life really a roundabout? Yet one knows that if not for the 6 years events, they might never have get together. Sometimes, like what Charlotte says, things happen for a reason. And other times, you just do not need to find a reason for events that happen.

Maybe the 6 years changed each other's ideas and thinking and personality. Afterall one is expected to be wiser as the years go by until the age of elderly where you get down with stroke and alzheimer and other age old illness.

And even with all these illness and events, one knows that a relationship can last if it has weathered enough storms :)

5 interesting questions

I was posed these 5 questions by a friend. Here are the questions and my answers

1) How come a person who is married for 10 years, can forget his wife's birthday but remember his 1st kiss with his 1st lover?

2) If Adam doesnt eat that fruit with Eve, will they get separated?

3) What is the meaning of the life journey?

4) How come a wife cannot tolerate her husband's bad habits?

5) What are the life problems that one cannot avoid to think?

1) Bday are just dates. Human being don't remember dates as easily as they remember events that happen. And the saying goes tat first love is unforgettable, anything tat is the first time will have a deeper impact in ur grey matter.

2) Actually i din know adam n eve got separated ah? Is it so... Anyway whether adam shd haf eaten the apple or nt is secondary already coz right now, its in the past. Never look back at the past if it is to change the future. Men has this bad habit call regret, and it only makes you accumulate your regrets. Because you regret doing this, you do not appreciate what you have in the present.

3) Life journey is for you to appreciate the journey. A person who zooms past his life to reach his goals does not have much memories to appreciate his life. A person who takes a step at a time to reach his goal will be able to understand what his whole life is all about.

4) As lovers, we see stuff in rose-tinted glass. As married couples we see matters in clear crystal glass. As human being we are critical of ourselves, of people we care. And because you are critical then you will start nitpicking.

5) Food. Haha because you need food to survie. So you must always think what you want to have for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner.

Corrinne May - Fly Away

A friend recommended me this song. A song written by a fellow Singaporean. A song about Mother's Love. And surprisingly a song that I heard before and really liked it. With all these pop songs whose lyrics don't make a sense, whenever I happen to chance upon such beautifully written piece of art, I am especially ecstatic. Plus her voice was so serene, that I become totally smitten =D.

Here’s the beautiful lyrics :

Corrinne May - Fly Away
From the album "Fly Away"

"When will you be home?" she asks
as we watch the planes take off
We both know we have no clear answer to where my dreams may lead
She's watched me as i crawled and stumbled
As a child, she was my world
And now to let me go, I know she bleeds
and yet she says to me

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Autumn leaves fell into spring time and
SIlver-painted hair
Daddy called one evening saying
"We need you. Please come back"
When I saw her laying in her bed
Fragile as a child
Pale just like an angel taking flight
I held her as I cried

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away
ohh...
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Why Did the Chicken cross the road?

Posted to me by a friend through a forwarded email :

SHEED AL SHAF - Iraqi Head of Information.
The chicken did not cross the road. This is a
complete fabrication. We do not even have a chicken.

MAHATHIR MOHAMED
I don't agree with anything about American chickens.

HANS BLIX
We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we
have not yet been allowed to have access to the other
side of the road.

GOH CHOK TONG (Singapore PM)
Chickens with Home Quarantine Orders cannot cross the
SARS road:
(1)We have electronic tags, home cameras, CISCO
guards, surprise visits and random calls even at
2.00am.
(2) We will name them and shame them.
As the economic cost is very high, we have to make
sure that they do not cross the road with the other
chickens.

DR SEUSS
Did the chicken cross the road?
Did he cross it with a toad?
Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed
I've not been told.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR
I envision a world where all chickens will be free to
cross roads without having their motives called into
question.

GRANDPA
In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the
road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road,
and that was good enough.

OPRAH
In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken
tell, for the first time, the heart-warming story of
how it experienced a serious case of moulting, and
went on to accomplish its dream of crossing the road.

JOHN LENNON
Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads
together - in peace.

ARISTOTLE
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

KARL MARX
It was an historic inevitability.

RONALD REAGAN
What chicken?

SIGMUND FREUD
The fact that you are at all concerned that the
chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying
sexual insecurity.

BILL GATES
eChicken2003 will not only cross roads, but will lay
eggs, file your important documents, and balance your
check book - and Internet Explorer is an integral
part of eChicken.

ALBERT EINSTEIN
Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the
road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS
Did I miss one?

HOMER SIMPSON
Mmmmmmmmm . . . . c h i c k e n !!

As for MOI Answer :
Question not why the chicken cross the road. Question why is there a road. Is it for the chickens, ducks, animals, birds, human to cross? Is it to create jobs for people who build roads? Is it meant for crossing or for display? Is it to waste taxpayer's money? Is it going to be a well used road or a deserted road?

What is Feminism?

When did this term appear? How did it get created? Did a male or a female define it?

As quoted by my friend, “They discover this phenomenon while we created it”
You can guess that my friend is a female ;-)

Lately I have been discussing with a friend about feminism. He feels that FEMINIST is the obstacle to FAMILY MAKING. In his opinion (and in my words because I can’t remember his exact words), feminist only concentrates on oneself, to make one’s life better. Thus through feminism, a woman learns how to be self-sufficient and not relied on the men for everything. Through feminism, a woman knows a job is important.

And due to feminism, it was said that women starts concentrating only in building their career. They put off marriages and having children as they are unable to juggle between career and family.

But I thought that females best in multi-tasking? Then why is it so hard to juggle between career and family? Why can there never be a balance?

In addition, is it really right to say that feminism is an obstacle for family making? Feminism only teaches a lady to be less reliant on gentleman. I don’t think it teaches a female to regard a male as a useless bum right? Just as I believed that Feminism only teaches a lady to get a job. It doesn’t tell you to develop a career right?

I believe there is feminism in every woman, be it in olden times or present time. Even the most submissive female will have a time where she wants to fight back. Because human can only tolerate a certain limit. To me, feminism is a theory to make females stronger than before.

If a female feels that family is important, when all around her peers are developing their career, then being a feminist at heart, she will still stays firm in her ideals and not go with the flow.

If a female feels that the guy she is dating doesn’t like children, and will not give her happiness. Then she should have the strength to walk out of this relationship and find another guy who wants the same things she wants.

And if a female feels that career is a better option to develop because she cannot be a good mother, she should go all out to develop her career. Because there is no point having a lot of children when there is no role model i.e. the mother and the father for the children to emulate.

Feminism is to describe the strength a woman has. That is my FIRM opinion.

Interview - The best way to know you?

If the scholar exam in the olden china is the best way to ascertain you can serve as an official in the court or not, then interview is supposedly the best way to see if you are suited for this job or not in this century.

For me I only like going for interview with some financial company or insurance company. At the very least, I know I will not have to answer any super difficult questions posed by interviewers.

In other type of interviews, I get bombarded with questions non-related to the job I am applying. They give me an impression that if you are a KNOW-ALL then you are qualified to work here!

At one instance, even my location matters to an interviewer. All because he is worried I will report in late for work. Seriously, is lateness such a problem in this century that punctuality is the number one thing to focus?

Sometimes I feel to do well in an interview, you must know how to sell yourself. But if you are a good seller, then shouldn’t you be in sales instead of in whatever jobs you are applying? Ok that is a biased statement. What I do want to convey is the fact that if I am the kind who wishes to hide behind the computer, there is absolutely no way I can face a human needless to say to be able to sell my strengths to the person.

So if the jobs I am trying to get, which I believe I am the best person to do, is being taken by somebody who knows how to sell his/her traits even though his expertise is not as deep as mine, then what type of jobs can I still do? And is interview effectively seeking out the best person to do this job?

Then if everybody is forced to know how to sell himself/herself, and also have the skills to do other stuff, does that means that inside somebody, there is a salesman personality? And that everybody can be a salesman at some time in his or her life.

Hmm talking about it reminds me of the dating game. When a guy/girl wants to chase his/her dream girl/guy, does he/she need to sell himself/herself too? Does an introduction counts to being an interview too?
