What Covers You
That which influences the general atmosphere or environment (current situation)

Justice
Briefly: The time has come to reflect on the choices you have made along the way. This card shows that wrongs will be put right.

In Detail...
Whatever your past has brought to you, the time has come to reflect on the choices you have made along the way. Perhaps there were things you would rather not have done, and your are planning now to make amends for anything you would like to clear up once and for all. If there have been some people who have crossed you and brought you distress, you are now wise and mature enough to deal with it in an intelligent and abstract way. Your thoughts are on making things better and improving your relationships. If you have to go to a court of law around this time, the final decision will be one that is fair to you. This card shows that wrongs will be put right. You can assist this process by addressing those issues that had caused friction and pain in your life and make some headway towards a more harmonious relationship with those closest to you.

What Crosses You
Obstacles, conflicts or opposition in the path

Knight of Wands
Briefly: An indication of the arrival of someone important coming into your life.

In Detail...
The picture on this card is of a man on a horse swiftly charging through the day with fearless abandon. He has a mission and knows exactly where he is going. Sometimes this card can indicate the arrival of someone important coming into your life, or it can signal the hasty departure of someone from your life. If you are expecting someone to arrive, they will do so very quickly. If you sense that someone wants out, they will leave just as quickly. This can also signal some type of emergency, though not necessarily too serious of an event that has speeded up. Perhaps someone is admitted to hospital and you have to get there quickly. There is unlikely to be any serious problems stem from this event, just that the matter had to be dealt with as soon as possible, without any delays, such as an appendix attack, for example. If you are single, it can mean your next lover is just around the corner and you will find this person to be very warm and responsible. He or she may be born under an Earth sign, such as Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn.

What Crowns You
That which has gone before you, those past events and influences that have led you to this path

The Moon
Briefly: Very deep emotions and if you are going through any big events in your life this will be a meaningful period for you and one that will be long remembered.

In Detail...
This card depicts the Moon in the centre of the card and on either side is a dog barking in the night. There are also two castles and these are divided by a stream which has a scorpion in it. Sometimes there can be contaminated or dangerous water or liquid connected with this card. There may also prove to be differences between neighbours for one reason or another. It is as if there is something going on at night with one of the neighbours and this gets under your skin and causes friction and resentment. It can also indicate very deep emotions and if you are going through any big events in your life this will be a very meaningful period for you and one that will be long remembered. If you meet a new partner during this time, more than likely it will occur at night and be an intense and passionate liaison. Perhaps one of you is born under the Sign of Scorpio, Pisces or Cancer.

What is Beneath You
The current foundation and what you have access to build upon

Page of Cups
Briefly: Time to discover some new career direction that will lead you towards prosperity.

In Detail...
The picture on this card is of a youngish person, who is often male, though this can indicate a female. He is colourfully dressed and wears a hat and some plumage in it. He carries some red flowers, and a cup with a fish jumping about in it. He looks content and yet very innocent. He could be about to embark on a new career or had just graduated from college, university or from law school. He is clean shaven, either blue or black eyes and has lovely sleek hair. He loves to wear bright coloured clothing which reflects his warmth and compassion for others. If you draw this card and the person is yourself, you may discover some new career direction that will lead you towards prosperity. If it is someone else, they could become very important to you, either by becoming your new best friend, or your lover or husband/wife. This person is also highly sensitive and should therefore only mix with people who are positive and enthusiastic. There may also be some special occasion coming up where you have to put on your best threads.

What is Behind You
The past events or influences that have played a major role in bringing this situation to light

Strength
Briefly: It is possible that someone born under the sign of Leo is of some importance to you right now. our strength and fortitude are about to be acknowledged and tested

In Detail...
Initially the picture on this card depicts a woman holding open the mouth of a lion, which shows both her courage and her desire to tame the wild beast. It is possible that someone born under the sign of Leo is of some importance to you right now. If you are the Leo, then now is you time to shine and let the world know what you can do. Your efforts will receive recognition now and if this in any way involves being in the public eye, the spotlight is about to seek you out and make you look like a beacon in the hight. Your strength and fortitude are about to be acknowledged and tested. If you withstand the demands made on your resilience and energy levels, you will come through this time with flying colours.

What is Before You
Immediate future and influences all about to come to light

The Chariot
Briefly: Travel awaits you. Should the other travel card, the six of swords also be in your card layout, then this is an indicator that you are to move across new ground, or maybe even purchase a mode of travel such as a car.

In Detail...
Generally speaking this card depicts some kind of travel. Should the other travel card, the six of swords also be in your card layout, then this is an indicator that you are to move across new ground. However, even by itself, as this is a major arcana card, travel is still a strong possibility. You may travel quite a distance and your goal is to get there, by whatever means you can find, even horseback if necessary. This can also mean that someone is coming from a long distance towards you. For some people this can represent getting a new mode of transport, such as buying your first car, or buying a new car or bike or whatever. The emphasis is on getting to your destination by the quickest route available. This card too is about choices. You may have to make a major decision around this time that will alter your circumstances quite dramatically. Do not resist change for that will disrupt the natural flow of events that are waiting to unfold for you. Also I have seen this card manifest in matters to do with re-decorating the home. Sometimes it is just new curtains or cushions, however the aim is to bring comfort into the home.

Your-Self
How you see yourself: a true reflection on your current attitudes and belief systems

Four of Wands
Briefly: Perhaps the family is becoming more important to you or one long distant family member is coming to stay or you are planning to visit their home.

In Detail...
This is a beautiful card to behold. To me it appears that there is a castle in the distance, on a hill-top and the two wands on either side seem to represent the entrance or gateway to this lovely home. The garland of flowers draped over the wands give an impression of comfort, warmth and beauty. For some this card can mean that you are about to move house. The new one will be a significant improvement on the current abode. If you have already just moved, then the emphasis will be on relaxation and a sanctuary way from the hustle and the bustle of city life. A home in the country would be a suitable location to be living in. Serenity and peace will be the mode of daily living. Perhaps the family is becoming more important to you or one long distant family member is coming to stay or you are planning to visit their home, which is probably at a distance from where you are at the moment.

Around You
How others from home or work or family view the situation

King of Pentacles
Briefly: A man whose aim is to appear wealthy, which is his ultimate goal.

In Detail...
On this card we see a man seated on a throne. He looks regal and sophisticated. He holds a scepter in his left hand and a Pentacle in his right hand. This man is very serious about financial security and has made the accumulation of funds his main preoccupation in life. He is very proud of his achievements and willing to show others his prized possessions. At this time in his life he is probably aged around late thirties to early forties. His work may involve him in the field of banking or the stock-market. The main aim of his life is to be financially secure and then he can relax in his later years in luxury and comfort. Appearances are important to him and to this end he dresses very conservatively and smartly. Comfort is also a factor in his well made and expensive attire. The aim is to appear wealthy, which is his ultimate goal. Usually he rides the wave of success in mid life and is therefore able to display an air of authority and confidence in his position. Others respect him for his determination and passion to succeed. He has mastered his life successfully and is usually married with a few children. His wife is conscious of his material desires and needs and accepts her role as the caretaker of all he owns.

Hopes and Fears
That which one coverts that lies deep inside, hopes and fears are but a razors edge apart

The Hermit
Briefly: This card as it reflects a deep thinker, someone who spends time in isolation mulling over the mysteries of life. Much time may have been spent this way, and now it is all about to change.

In Detail...
This card shows an elderly gentleman with a robe and hood standing atop a mountain holding a lantern in his right hand and a staff in this left hand. It is the middle of the night and the background is dark, and offset by the glow - which looks like a star, emanating from the lantern. The mountain appears to be snow capped and the night seems cold and he is alone. This can signify an event happening at night or in winter. If you are not in a relationship at this point in time, it is likely that you soon will be as this can symbolise the end of being alone, you finally find what you have been looking for, which may have been right under your nose. There is also a deeper significance to this card as it reflects a deep thinker, someone who spends time in isolation mulling over the mysteries of life. Much time may have been spent this way, and now it is all about to change. Prepare yourself in whatever way is necessary. Maybe you need to revamp your image or put on some brighter clothes, rather than hiding yourself under a huge coat or cloak.

The Outcome
Eventual outcome based on current card path

Eight of Pentacles
Briefly: A keen eye for details may lead to you gaining a financial increase.

In Detail...
The picture on this card shows a dark haired man with a moustache bending over a table laden with coins. He has a hammer in his right hand and an engraving implement in his left hand. He is studiously working away making the coins with his hands. He is strong, muscular and very attentive to details. On the wall behind him are the results of his hard work, various pentacles displayed there for all to see, like awards. If you are this man then are you industrious and will lend a hand wherever possible. You have a keen eye for details and can be counted on to finish the days tasks. You may be about to come into a financial increase of some kind, which may be by your own efforts, or given to you for your own generosity in the past. If you are a woman you may be about to meed this man and he will be a loyal companion and a devoted husband and father if you choose to become united with him. He will be a good provider and keen to see that you get your needs met in every way.

Your Single Card Reading

Five of Cups

Briefly: 5 days associated with an event that will not be so happy or positive.

Full Reading: This card shows a man with his head lowered and he is facing the ocean and a cliff top in the distance. On the ground in front if him is three cups spilling out red liquid. Behind him are two cups. He looks sad and alone. The dark clouds in the sky signify sadness. There is a time frame of about five days associated with an event that will not be so happy or positive. However, all things must eventually come to an end and we experience pain and hurt because we are human. Even though the person is experiencing some loss, there is still hope and this is symbolised by the two cups behind him, suggesting that he cannot see this at this point in time, but it is definitely there. This man will eventually pick up the pieces and move on, but has to grieve his loss as he is a human being and will feel this way for some time before he can be healed and renewed. The card often symbolises winter, but can also represent a cold time in the persons life, or there is a separation of some type that is causing this temporary sadness. When the time has passed he will see that there is always hope for a new life and he will start anew, but it may be in a new season such as Spring.

How to refrain from crying...

Many years ago, Zai Zai taught us how to stop crying
by doing a handstand...

All these while, I never managed to master this pose. Afterall handstand is an advanced yoga pose lor. Thus I never learnt how to stop tears from crying.

A few days ago, Yotaro taught us how to refrain from crying. By pinching your nose. This is indeed a much easier pose. Weirdly, this is another pose from yoga too haha. But the actual steps is to do alternate breathing (meaning you breath on either sides of your nose) for 15 times. Then take a big breadth and lower your head while you pinch your nose to stop breathing.

I guess it is proven that yoga exists in all forms of your daily life afterall haha.
I should stop my tears theme soon... when I have the time bah... zzz

I read this because of Happy Birthday 2007 and I must say is quite a nice book to read. It is simple enough for me to read. And her short stories are very heart warming.

Is about her moving from some big house which is stuffed with lots of remembrances and histories of her grandparents and maybe older. When she pack every single stuff, and clear every single stuff, every single memories will be flashed back into her memory. I had this experience once, about 5 years ago. That time every single thing that I put into the box to be moved to my new house, I remember something about it. Afterall I had stayed in my previous house for 10 over years. It is where I had my kindergarden classes, where my primary school is within walking distance, where my neighbour and I used to take bus to secondary school together, where my friends and I used to come home from JC together. It holds all my growing up memories, even till today, I still miss the house. I remember the author says at the day where she needed to moved house, her sister was unable to persuade her deceased grandfather to follow them. And she prayed sincerely and tell her grandfather that they have to move no matter what. It was quite heart wrenching.

Happy Birthday
Is the storyline of the movie. Quite simple and nice. Maybe it is a simple plot that is why I could remember some of the scenarios still. Imagine my classmate asking me over the MSN why xiao mi xxx, why xiao nan yyy.... and I can still vaguely remember the reason although I watched once onli. Because the story plot is really simple haha =D

The rest of the stories are just as interesting too. After reading her books, I had some clearer thoughts on certain things in life. Life sometimes can be so quirky.

Anyway I was told that she has written another 2 books before, 《一个人的KTV》和《下楼谈恋爱》. Will check it out another time.

I love dolphin since in my secondary school. I remember I once bought a dolphin necklace like the picture below. And I like to play with the stone. The pink stone. Until one day, I lost it while walking on the streets. After that I thought of buying a replacement but it was a blue stone. And I no longer felt the same as I had with the pink stone. Anyway at that time, there was this Japanese drama about dolphin too... and people thought that I bought the necklace because of it. Sighz, which is the reason why I never watch that show either.

Thus, when 海豚灣戀人 was being screened on TV a few years ago, I never watch it either. But I did read the story. And felt is just a typical love story with some complicated knots.

Now that it is recast, I wonder why I am searching about it though. Sighz. Must be the story book. It started with a beautiful dolphin tale with very magical pictures. And I couldn't resist searching for the book. I wonder if I can find the book in Singapore hmm... else I have to buy it from Taiwan which I find kinda mafan haha. Oh well shall see how bah.

Sigh! I have searched for the book in Kino but there are no traces of it. Seen lots of copies 花样少男少女 and even Smiling Pasta.. and many others SETTV shows... There was even a copy of Prince Turns Frog (which I did not buy in the end coz these book is just an adaption of the show. But this book is different, it contains illustrations of the dolphin story that I fell in love with.) Feel so sad that I cannot find it, though when I search for it that time, I don't even have 0.00001% hope. Because the show was made in 2003. Haha just realised how slow I am with this show.. and I'm not even addicted to the couple yet. I only love the dolphins.

Anyway I have only watched 3 episodes of the story.. and saw the dolphins when Angela shouted that she will earn lots of money for her mother. So cute... But the episode that leaves me the deepest impression is the first episode.

The little girl is called Bottlecap. The little boy is called Zeya. When they first met, he is already a gentleman. Such a nice little chap, so gentle to the people around him. He had even tried to carry her when she injured her leg. That was the first time she called him, Da Da. And the cute little boy said his name is not Da Da. But the little gal insist on calling him Da Da, that he relented and say ok you can call me Da Da. So sweet! I guess such person is extinct in this world already.

Bottlecap is a girl with lots of hatred because she is a girl who is afraid. She was so afraid of sad things, that the day she finally acknowledged her mum has went heaven, she plucked away her favourite dolphin's 2 eyes. Da Da asked her why did she do it. She replied if it see sad things, it will cry. She doesn't want it to see sad things so she plucked its eyes. Da Da then gave her 2 beads as the dolphin's eyes and told her the dolphin is very poor thing because now it cannot see pretty things like the rainbow and the butterflies. He told her to always believed that she will be happy soon whenever she is sad. And she promised she will be brave and wait for him to come back to show her how brave she is.

Sighz everything feels so beautiful in the first episode. When she left her dolphin behind because she realised he will never come back for her, it seems so much like a girlfriend finally given up hope that the guy will come back. And that fate seems to play them a cruel trick because the guy had actually came back.

Chicken and Salmon that Meltz

Tried the new KFC Meltz because the picture looks good haha

Of course the real thing always don't look like the photo.. but it is still not bad a try. The skin taste like prata, there are 2 types of cheese and what I love is diced tomatoes haha.

Oh and for so long I never got a chance to try the salad, so decided to try it the next day... with oriental sauce. Not bad, quite an interesting mix of salad. And once again, diced tomatoes are part of the ingredients hee hee. Oh ya KFC decided to introduce salad to replace one of the side whether it is coleslaw or whipped potato. Haha I would definitely replace the coleslaw. Wonder why but I never like their coleslaw. Hmm but then between coleslaw and whipped potato, actually coleslaw might be a healthier option... hmm...

On a side note, I have been eating Atlantic salmon almost every Saturday for the past few Saturdays.. haha. Because it is still school period so Western stall will be open for business. Surprisingly I have not got sick of eating salmon. But I'm not as addicted as my classmate either haha. Just that I felt it is cheap for the price I'm paying as it is just 4 bucks. Doubt I can get the price out there.

Yummy....

유미 (You Mi) - 별 (Byul)

Title : 별 (Byul) (Korean for "star")
Sung by : 유미 (You Mi)
Album : 200 pounds beauty

The wind knocks on the window
Over the room as small as me
Twinkling stars so beautiful
Filling the room with love

Don't be hurt
Caressing my wound gently
Embracing me to sleep

Too hurt for my legs to walk
Eyes so blurry with tears
Before love
Never meant for me
I will keep on smiling

Dear moments with you
Buried deep in my heart

Like those stars
embroidered in my eyes
I will love you forever

Crawling to me like a dream
My little star up high dazzling my eyes
Shining brightly
Falling on my shoulders

Don’t be sad anymore
Holding my hands tightly caressing my wound
It embraces me warmly

Bflygal's comment : Actually I did not do any research on this song at all. I'm not sure even if the lyrics are accurate, should be relatively correct. Afterall I got it from the subtitles and some random blogs. I can only say whenever I hear this song, I just feel sad. A girl who did everything for love, for a guy. Luckily he is touched by her efforts at the end. She felt like the greatest fool when he avoided her. I guess that feeling must have hurt her alot. Imagine she cut off her bone and skin for him. But he just broke her heart, where tissue cannot fix it anymore. Haha is a line from the film. But I truly agree, tissue cannot fix a broken heart...

Finally resolved the black screen in VLC player with this article.

1) Open VLC player
2) Click Settings > Preferences
3) Expand the “Video menu”
4) Highlight “Output Modules” ( by Clicking on it )
5) Located bottom right of the window, click “Advanced Options”
6) Under “Video OutPut Module” Select either one of the following options ( If one fails, try the other )
- DirectX Video OutPut
- Windows GDI Video OutPut (I had best luck with this)
Note that Default is usually the best option, so this is only to be changed if you have problems.
7) If these fail, you can try Dummy Video OutPut Function, or even one of the others.

Corrinne May - Close to you

Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
Just like me (Just like me)
They long to be
Close to you.

Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Hahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Lahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.

Top 10 Vista Hacks

Thank God for this article from my senior.. because the User Account Control is driving me crazy... Everytime I ask to delete a file, I need to confirm 2 times.. and the second time is more irritating because it inactive all other screens.

I never knew that Vista has a hidden administrator account. Gonna elevate my status tonight!

Turning on the Administrator account is straightforward. First, open an elevated command prompt by typing cmd into the Search box on the Start menu, right-clicking the command prompt icon that appears at the top of the Start menu, then selecting Run as administrator -- or just use the shortcut you created in the previous hack.

Then enter this command and press Enter:

Net user administrator /active:yes

From now on, the Administrator account will appear as an option on the Welcome screen, along with any user accounts you may have set up. Use it like any other account. Be aware that it won't have a password yet, so it's a good idea to set a password for it.

If you want to disable the account and hide it, enter this command at an elevated command prompt and press Enter:

Net user administrator /active:no

As for the rest of the hacks, I guess they are not crucial to me now...

Corrinne May - Journey

It's a long long journey
Till I know where I'm supposed to be
It's a long long journey
And I don't know if I can believe
When shadows fall and block my eyes
I am lost and know that I must hide
It's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you

Many days I've spent
Drifting on through empty shores
Wondering what's my purpose
Wondering how to make me strong

I know I will falter
I know I will cry
I know you'll be standing by my side
It's a long long journey
And I need to be close to you

Sometimes it feels no one understands
I don't even know why
I do the things I do
When pride builds me up till I can't see my soul
Will you break down these walls and pull me through

Cause It's a long long journey
Till I feel that I am worth the price
You paid for me on calvary
Beneath those stormy skies

When Satan mocks and friends turn to foes
It feels like everything is out to make me lose control
It's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you
To you

Bflygal's comment : Because of the re-telecast of At the Dolphin Bay, I revisited this song again. I think I prefer Corrinne May's version...

200 Pounds Beauty

It is just a short review of a movie who I never really watch in full concentration, because the subtitles I had were bad. I'm not sure if I will watch again though. Because even though the subtitles are bad, I managed to understand the show well enough.

And I was enjoying those concert parts especially the effects. Very awesome!

Anyway just want to say this is a typical story of a girl who thought she could gain everything by losing weight, but ended up realising that she not only lost her weight, she lost her good friend, her dad, and most importantly she lost herself. When one lost herself, she cannot go anywhere. Luckily she managed to find herself once again, as the girl who was fat, who went plastic surgery, who loves to sing.

The female lead, Kim Ah-Jung, has a fabulous body though. The legs were really lean and beautiful and her figure is good. Just couldn't stand her when she acted clumsy. Too exaggerated. Haha!

Sometimes I wonder why does woman goes surgery? For the guy's sake? If so, isn't the guy at fault. Then why does the guy never appreciate what the woman does, and instead insist on natural beauty which is still about a fabulous body. Paradoxical!

il Mare

I had wanted to study this morning because I was too tired to do anything yesterday.. but I needed to eat the crab for breakfast haha. My parents had bought it last night but I wasn't home for dinner. So I ended up finding a movie to watch instead while feasting on the crab breakfast.. and by the time I completed the movie, I left 15 minutes which I decided to spend writing a blog on it.

When Lakehouse came out, I had wanted to watch it because of the storyline. On further investigation, I realised they remade it from il Mare actually. And my friend told me il Mare is better. I'm not sure if he is biased or what, but since I am only able to get il Mare from him, so I guess I have to settle for it haha. Anyway I always prefer to watch the original make so I'm quite happy to watch il Mare.

Actually I had wanted to watch a Jap movie but since my eyes landed upon it, so I decided to see abit of it. I ended up getting stuck to it. To me, it deals with the topic of a world with many time frames. Maybe right now, in this time frame of mine, I'm blogging about il Mare. But in another time frame, I might have succeeded in studying. I had always like this time frame topic. I think most people would like it too. Because it deals with time travel, where you can go back and re-do what you felt was a mistake, you can go back and cherish who you had lost.

Time by itself is a mystery. I had that feeling yesterday.. shall post it later if I remember.

Anyway the guy is a good cook. And I like the way the movie took shots. There was this part where it shot from the dog's view point. Suddenly the vision was only on the floor. So cute. And the dog is so adorable. Too adorable for the man though haha. Then another part where they were showing the man cooking, the focus on the food was interesting and colourful.

The female lead says there are 3 things that one cannot hide. Coughing, Poverty, Love. The more one wants to hide it, the worst it becomes. I understand what she meant. But as much as I understand, I will still try to hide my cough... habit!

The male lead says wine drinkers are loners. I wonder if it is true... hmm...

Oh ya the cruz of the story is actually the house. It is called il Mare which means The Sea in Italian. And it is a beautiful house with a stairs that can actually lead to the sea during high tide. It is also a house that does makes one feel lonely. The female lead did like another place called Coral Beach I think. Both places have beautiful sea view. The kind that I like very much. Haha maybe in another time frame, I'm living at the sea which explains why I love the sea so much. Oh and the Korean name of this movie is 時越愛 or 시월애 (Si-wol-ae)

I liked the ending very much. Interestingly, I actually cried towards the end with her. And I had thought that I would not shed any tears for this show. Because the whole show was emitting those warm fuzzy love feeling, the kind where one feels he or she is being loved at.

Oh no I'm going to be late.. shall end now... gotta go see my sea haha

Travel Planner

Bought this for a friend who is going for a 2 month trip... coolz right. I also wish I can have the luxury. Think she is taking no pay leave... Admire her courage. Anyway my classmates and I have been thinking, a year later, what we will be doing haha. We are all planning (and of course praying that we do grad by next year.. cross our fingers!) And I do have something in mind...

Strawberries Smile

This post is super late.. I can't even remember when I went to eat at Sumo House already. Just remember it is a Saturday. All because I was unable to retrieve the photo via cable nor bluetooth haha.

Anyway I had been bio-ing this place for quite long already. A chance encounter allow me to have dinner here with my classmate. I didn't even know Bedok has a branch. To think I went all the way to Clementi to try haha. And I have to admit it is the low price that piqued my interest.

The food is actually just so-so. Although we kept wondering how they earn when they charge pretty low for the set meals. The ala-carte is priced as per normal though. Oh and the Strawberries Smile is very cute. They scooped the inner core of the strawberry and put in vanilla ice-cream. I like the name "Strawberries Smile"... eating it makes me smile haha. Nicey!

Rubie

My baby Rubie joined my family on the 3rd of April 2007. It has been 15 days already but Rubie is still a squealing baby. Because of her, I spent my long weekend tweaking her. Because of her, I have delayed this post and many other subsequent posts because she refused to talk to my N70. I have yet to rectify that… and the many other problems tat is still residing in her body. In fact for the past few days, I went back to my lappie which did protest awhile by also refusing to talk to my N70. Luckily lappie finally relented 2 days ago and I managed to retrieve my photos. Now my lappie connects to everything that Rubie rejects haha.

Vista is quite problematic!! It refuses to cooperate with HP products more than 7 years, thus my scanner is with the lappie now. Luckily I had decided to pass my deskjet to my brother since he will need to print stuff more often from now onwards.

Right now, the only thing I’m happily doing with Rubie is to burn up my stuff. Finally I have a DVD burner.. yeah! Have yet to do any video editing in Rubie… hopefully I will embark soon… and hopefully she will cooperate.

The Google Story

I was supposed to borrow the book, The Search in Woodlands Lib that time. But I couldn’t find it. Instead I saw this book lying on the shelf. I ended up borrowing this book instead.

It is a book about how Google started, how they came up with all the ideas be it searching, or emailing, or Adsense. The founders were actually those fun-loving types of guys who just wanted to have fun more than to work. Guess it is pure luck that their interest can bring home the bacon.

I have to admit that some parts of the book bore me and I was skipping pages. But I remember how innocent the founders were in their thoughts. They wish only to serve the public, and never thought about how to make money. It is that pure innocence that leaves me a deep impression. I can’t remember when and how did I first use Google search engine. Nor when did I start to use google this instead of search this. I just felt that google can act like a verb. It was said that in Japan, they call itグーぐる (gūguru). Interesting!

Overall it is a pretty interesting book if you really want to know how Google started out and how they hoped to overtake Microsoft and how they hope to stay good guys even though they erred at times. A nice read!

The Hospital

I watched this show at that time when I got tired of learning Cantonese, and I got stuck to it. Initially the show kept me thinking about doctor ethics and politics, the dilemmas they faced, how helpless they can be. But towards the end, the show gets very draggy as it focused on Su Yi Hua and how everybody left him, be it the girl he loved (Guan Xin), his good friend, his patient. Thus when it finally reached the ending, I actually breathed a sign of relief. Actually, it is also because I'm finally freed haha. Because of this show, I couldn't concentrate on my NN report. So when I finally watched finish it, I finally managed to write the preliminary findings. The only problem is for that past few days, I kept getting mind block on how to tackle the next part of the report.

Anyway when I finally watched the ending, I felt it was good. It kind of cleared up everything and concluded everything. And at that time, I hailed Guan Xin as my idol. Too bad Singapore is too small else I also want to be like her, quit my job travel around and find my calling. Of course I can leave Singapore but it is definitely easier when you are a citizen travelling around other parts of your country. I once told my friend, a girl can be soft-hearted but when she finally make up her mind, there is no way one can break her resolve. When Guan Xin decided to give up the relationship, the second time, she was really determined to move on and start her life anew. The last episode had very beautiful scenery and those lush greenery really makes me felt at ease.

I guess this show really make me think and ask a lot of questions about life and death. Guan Xin said that somewhere in that village, there is a big stone high up on a mountain. The villagers will go to the stone once in their life, to find their calling. At this stone, Guan Xin felt that she could reach out and touch the heaven too. I wish to go there and find my calling too haha.

Y.E.S 933 Radio Drama -

Today, I decided to check out Cruz Teng's blog for fun, only to realise that he actually uploaded the drama 暗巷 in his Xanga. I spend the whole morning to figure out how to extract the mp3, only to realise that IE can do it easily for me... Dumb! Another thought came into my mind though, what if I had used IE7.0, will it be that easy still? Have to test it out at home when I remember.

Anyway I was trying to extract the song that he composed haha. Even though it is just a partial song, but it sounded very nice. Very soft, melodious feeling. The lyrics is simple and yet you can feel the helplessness.

Oh this story is quite interesting. The story is based on 吴淡如's 在暗巷的尽头相逢. The background is in the hospital, where a lady doctor faces the woman who breaks up her family and took away her dad. The irony is the doctor is now a third party in another relationship. Sometimes life can be so paradoxical.

Here is the lyrics of Cruz Teng's song (copied from his site) :

Bflygal's comment : It was raining when I heard this song. Heavily. It has been like that the past few days. Anyway this song was used by Y.E.S. 933 Short Stories, 暗巷. Haven't heard the ending yet. Is a medical story haha. And once again talking about doctor ethics. Lately The Hospital makes me think a lot about doctor ethics. And I kept posing all those scenario questions to my friend, giving her no peace to enjoy her Easter Break.

Anyway the song is very beautiful. A simple love song...

Hmm no wonder my lungs are weak since young haha!

Site : 散步

Sometimes I will read this author's article. He has just turn dad a few months back and his articles are usually related to his baby. His article in "My Paper" today is written very beautifully.

熟悉的小路,有着我们的快乐回忆;

I just have that sweet warm feeling oozing out from my body. It speaks of a parental love so tender and fragile, so loving. This baby should be basking in bliss. Haha

Finally remembered to hear 933 罐头剧场 - <垃圾女郎> on podcast.
Haha is quite a twist in the story. Quite an interesting story.. maybe with a part 2?? The ending song is Elva's song... interesting!

The Big Big Wheel....

For the past 1 month, I was quite fascinated by this Ferris wheel. I did not know its name is called the Singapore Flyer haha. Anyway I remembered the first time I saw it, I was heading to school on my first week of holidays. And I was wide awake in the whole bus journey.

Actually there is nothing pretty about it. Just that it is a very big wheel. So big I couldn’t resist wanting to take a photo of it. Even till last Sunday, I was still thinking how to take a photo of it properly because I keep getting blocked by the trees or Suntec (as I was in the bus). And I was thinking how it looks like at night. But I got lazy at night and took the train back. So as of now, I still don’t know how this big wheel looks like at night. Not that it will be a pretty sight since it is not lighted yet.

Maybe is just my curious nature at work again. Anyway just as I was still thinking about it, I saw another Ferris wheel, a green one this time. This friend's display picture was a big green Ferris wheel that I couldn’t resist asking him where he had taken that picture. And he told me is from Taiwan. I never knew Taiwan had a big Ferris wheel too.

And today, “My Paper” headline was on Singapore Flyer. Gosh, the editor must have read my mind last night haha. From this article, I learnt that there are a few Ferris Wheel

Leg and Toe Cramp

Source :
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/night-leg-cramps/AN00499
http://www.crampshelp.com/toecramps.html

Night leg cramps are contractions of the leg muscles, usually in the back of the lower leg (calf). They often occur just as you're falling asleep or just as you're waking up.

Common causes of night leg cramps include:
• Muscle overexertion
• Prolonged sitting
• Dehydration
• Pregnancy
• Diabetes
• Decreased potassium levels
• Neuromuscular disorders, such as Parkinson's disease
• Certain medications, such as albuterol, niacin, diuretics, and some calcium channel blockers and antipsychotic medications
• Alcohol use

How to ease cramps?
• Walking on the affected leg
• Massaging the affected muscle
• Straightening your leg and flexing your foot toward your knee until you feel the calf muscles stretch
• Applying a cold pack to the affected muscle
• Taking a hot bath

To prevent night leg cramps:
• Drink plenty of fluids during the day.
• Stretch your leg muscles before bedtime.
• Get adequate potassium in your diet.

Toe cramps occur where the toe pointed impossibly and give rise to excruciating pain.

Causes:
• ill-fitting shoes especially high heels
• calcium deficiency (not enough dairy foods, fish with tiny bones e.g. salmon, anchovies and sardines and milk)
• feet have been confined to shoes for hours
Note : Athletes and Yoga newbies might encounter toe cramps.

Prevent:
• Avoid wearing high heels, to work at least; save them for special occasions
• Whenever possible during the day, you should try to remove your shoes and exercise your feet, even if under your desk or on the bus or train. It helps to promote circulation by moving your ankles around in a circular movement, bending and flexing your feet and shaking each leg in turn as you go about your work
• Standing on tiptoes and raising your body up and then down repeatedly, using your toes to support you. Hold each position for five seconds
• Pick up marbles with your toes and relocate them to another spot on the floor
• Walking on sand strengthens toes, massages feet and exfoliates the skin

Bflygal's comment:
For the benefit of my friend, just wanted to say I research this topic because lately I have been suffering from leg cramp every time I woke up in the middle of the night haha. It does happen when the nights are cold and I forgot to cover myself with blanket. But I guess I wanted to read up about this topic because this has been happening on a daily basis for the past one week for me, and the nights are not cold. I guess maybe I'm pretty low in potassium now. I must eat more banana haha. Guess it can be quite irritating since I can feel the numbness hours after I have woken up. But other than that, I’m quite used to it already. Just that it gives me an excuse to not run in the morning. Lazy me! Oh ya, then while researching about leg cramp, I decided to research on toe cramp too which will happen to me if I shop too long and the place is cold haha. Yes I know, I need to cover up my precious feet more!

The Hospital

Lately for the sake of a show, I tried to learn Cantonese first. And I did that by watching The Legend of the Condor Heroes. The only thing is to keep watching an episode continuously but still unable to catch the Cantonese phrase is draining my energy.

I got so tired that in the end I spent my Good Friday, watching The Hospital, finishing 10 episodes in a day. In some sense, it really made me think. Think about politics. Think about patient’s life being used in the power struggle. Think about life and death. Think about the pain the patient is suffering. Think about the pain the family feels. Think about anesthetics. Think about euthanasia.

Every time I see the agony of the patient, I see the tears of the family, I feel so sad for them. To see the patient being made used for the power struggle, I really wonder if this is reality. I felt pained seeing a couple removing the life support of the baby and hugging the baby the first time.

I have only finished 15 episodes. I’m not sure if I will continue on. I felt helpless when I see the doctor put in 101% effort but the patient still left the world. I guess this is reality. Life and death crosses path with each other every day in the hospital.

Actually I have watched a few hospital shows, talking about doctors, about nurses, about NKF patients. Every time I feel sad watching such show. And I wonder why must there be pain to know the importance of life, the preciousness of life, the fragility of life.

Life is so fragile; I wonder how it survives the harshness of the reality. Maybe human does have a way to survive after all.

Ai yori aoshi

I was searching for the meaning of Kaoru when I saw this title and decided to read about it.

Maybe it is the title that intrigues me.
Ai Yori Aoshi means "Bluer Than Indigo". It is based on an old Chinese proverb: blue dye is made from indigo colored grass, yet the blue dye's color is much deeper than the color of its origin. In another words, the pupil has exceeds the master. Sounds interesting.

And the 2 characters name are referenced from flowers
Kaoru Hanabishi :
Kaoru means "fragrant" (the pleasant smells commonly attributed to flowers)
Hanabishi refers to a flower-shaped family crest

Aoi Sakuraba:
Aoi means "hollyhock", an Asian plant having a long cluster of showy, variously colored flowers
Sakuraba refers to a cherry blossom courtyard or garden

Taeko Minazuki:
Taeko means "delicate child", reflecting her clumsy personality

Mayu Miyuki:
Mayu means "cocoon", a reference to her family owning a silk company.

Anyway seems like another Harem Anime... like Love Hina (Rabu Hina).. see if I'm fated to watch it bah. For now, I'm happy to learn some of the Japanese words.

My Girl

Site : My Girl

I have finally completed this Korean TV show. Not that the show is terrible to watch. On the contrary, the show has its humorous times and torturous time. Maybe is towards the end, it is so torturous that I cannot bring myself to watch it.

But I still watched it finish. Maybe because I know at the end is still a happy ending. However it took me quite a lot of tears before I finally reached the happy ending.

Both the guys Lee Dong Wook (as Seol Gong-chan) and Lee Joon Ki (as Seo Jung-woo) are quite an eye candy. Hmm I think I have a tendency to like guys who look metrosexual. My first idol is Jimmy Lin. Then lately I like Wu Zun which I feel looks like a girl more than Ella. And in this show, I find Lee Joon Ki quite cute too haha. To see how heartbroken he is, how he is always late by 1 step, how he tried to give up but failed, tried to persist but also failed. Every time I see him, I pitied him.

Lee Da Hae (as Joo Yoo-rin) and Park Si Yeon (as Kim Seo-hyun) are also 2 very beautiful ladies. Logically I would prefer Lee Da Hae, not because she is less scheming than Park Si Yeon. Just that I like her never say die attitude. No matter how tough life is, she will keep telling herself to BASHA! Every time she says BASHA!, I will silently tell myself to BASHA! too.

I’m not sure if she drops tears easily, but I know I do. Every time I see her cry, I cry with her. I wonder why my tears flow so easily. Even a show like Prince Turn To Frog, where my mum says is quite a happy show, I actually cried at scenes when the female lead realised the guy has forgotten about their love, when the guy turned cold and callous.

I cried when Lee Da Hae realised she fell for the guy, I felt my heart broke into pieces when they realised they can never be together (until grandpa forgive them), I was shattered when she said all those lies just to protect the man she loves, only because she realised the only way to protect is by lying.

Grandpa says that
Maybe everything boils down to fate. Many years ago, she saved his real cousin. Many years later, she pretended to be his fake cousin. Fate is forever weird in expressing itself.

Thus this couple likes to take the lift to DLI (Daehan Life Insurance) 63 Building (63 빌딩 or 육삼 빌딩). The lift up to the storey seems so long and arduous, that they tend to have quite a lot of missed chances. Hmm… but I think to go to one of the highest building and have a panorama view is indeed a wise choice. When you see how small the surroundings are, you will realise your worries are insignificant. Besides that building seems like a pretty place to go, I hope to go there one day too.

One day when I decided to go somewhere far, I must remember to first visit somewhere high…

Korean phrase I wish to remember :
사기꾼이 하는 말에 속다. (Sagiggun-i haneun mal-e sokda) Be deceived by the words of a swindler.

Giant & Ikea

I finally visited the 2 places I wanted to visit. Although I wonder why am I so crazy to go to such crowded area and see Singaporeans in their worst behaviour?

Giant was actually the typical Giant that I seen in IMM, in Vivo. It is only one level and sells a huge variety of stuff from clothes, to DVDs to food stuff. I must admit that some of their DVDs are really cheap, starting from 5 bucks onwards. In addition, some of their stuff is cheap. Thus you can see people taking a few of it.

What is comical though is the number of people standing at the longan corner, plucking the longan from its stalks. By removing the stalks, they are lightening the weight of the longan. I guess this is a way to get the most out of what you pay. But such sight is really amusing.

The not so amusing sights will be people ramming their trolley over your feet and pushing around, and blocking pathways. It is really depressing to see such scenes.

Oh in Giant I found a very big pumpkin. Wah Cinderella might have been delighted at this pumpkin.

I also found that pumpkin can be another shape.. like this. So weird right. I guess it would be a very weird carriage if Cinderella had used it.

Then we went Ikea to eat their famous chicken wings and meatballs. Not bad I would say. Just that it is sad to see people not clearing up their dishes when they are done. Maybe they did not know that one has to clear up. Guess we are too used to leaving our plates for others to clean up.

Found some cute looking lamps haha. I think it is the only thing that caught my fancy.

Anyway I find Ikea’s layout is a maze. It is like capturing you in and refusing to let you out anymore. We had difficulty walking around and finding the exit.

Overall am just glad to have visited these 2 mega places. Not sure if I will go a second time though...

Bright Hill Crematorium

Yesterday was the first time I went to Bright Hill Crematorium. Ever since my maternal grandparents moved from Aljunied to Bright Hill Crematorium, I have never visited them once. Sigh, I feel so unfilial.

And yesterday is a rainy day. It drizzles when we were about to reach the place. And due to the jam, we alighted earlier and walk a distance to the crematorium. Then we start preparing the stuff; display the food, packed the money and clothes for my maternal grandparents. It is quite amazing to see so many small photos displayed in this hall that was meant for praying.

As the day got brighter, more and more people arrived. We went through a few rounds of praying, and had a priest chant for my grandparents. We also went to visit and clean the tomb.

Then we went to another place to burn the offerings. It was like a burning furnace.

Then we had vegetarian noodle for lunch and headed home. The bus was delayed for almost an hour due to the heavy traffic in that area. And it started drizzling again. Guess that rain is really an essential sign during such festival.

I’m glad to have visited my grandparents. I know they loved me when I was young. It only seemed like yesterday where I can still vividly remember my weekly visits to them. I really wonder how they are coping at the other side.

Do profiles matter?

This question came into my mind suddenly. Do profiles matter? Why is it that when you change your profile in Friendster, everybody in your contact list will be informed? Maybe if it is a piece of good news, they can share with you. And if it isn’t, they will tread more carefully.

I hesitated to update my profile. I remember I did update once, but I changed it back because I did not want friends asking me about it. But this time, I see that it is really time to change since the other party has changed too. It seems more right to update it. And maybe it helps me inform my friends of a topic that I do not know how to broach about. Maybe my friends will scold me, maybe they will ask questions. And maybe I do not want to entertain all these.

Self discipline means doing the things that you don’t like but it must be done. Do profiles matter? Guess so.

Pursuit of Happyness

Utterly depressing is what I can say of this movie.

I knew it will be a typical storyline where he will have a happy ending in the end. But his happy ending lasted less than 1 minute. Too short for me to feel happy for him. Because I felt torturous for too long. If everything bad could happen, then he got everything bad and nothing good. Except for times where he managed to sell his machine to a doctor. That is one of the rare times he will smile. And when he faced his son, his fatherly love impressed me.

If I am going through half of his tortures, I think I might have killed myself or turned myself into a hermit and embarked on a mission of mediation. Actually I don't know what I will do. But I really doubt I have his energy to keep persevering on.

I'm quite impressed with his determination. Something about his determined attitude reminds that I must be stronger too hee hee! Never Give Up!

RAP:

RAP:

*RAP:

The Devil Wears Prada

Finally finished the book. Usually I prefer to read the book before watching the movie. But sometimes, time doesn't permit like this case. So I watch the movie first before I read the book. And I must say, the book paints the devil much more devilish than the movie. And that there is no happy ending in the book.

Maybe that is life. After you had changed because of your job, and cause the love to change, do you really expect that by quitting your job, your love will be returned back to normal? It only happens in movie. In the book, Andrea and Alex's relationship was still left hanging.

And if your boss is a devil who says you reminded her when she is young, do you really think she will take kindly after you humiliated her in public? But then in the book, Andrea humiliated her boss. In the movie, Andrea had showed genuine concern about Miranda being replaced. So maybe that is why in the end, Miranda smiled when she sees Andre again.

I guess when work consumes your life, you can become a demon seduced. No matter how much your conscience tells you, how bad you felt, you just keep working and pray it will be over soon. But the workaholic in you knew that you are only wading further and further into the deep sea.

I guess that is life too. Because in life, anything related to human needs 2 or more to clap. It is too unpredictable. Career however is a one-sided love affair. Much easier to manage that one tends to choose career over love. It is so much easier to self indulge in career than mutual commit in love. That is why there are so many workaholics, so many unhappy relationships in the modern society.

Luckily Andre realised this fast and not when she is old and callous like Miranda where it is too late to regret and reclaimed what she has lost. How many more are still lost in this power struggle or just fighting for life's survival?
