Temples Visit

This is the first time I followed my parents to pray and is indeed an interesting visit.

In Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple, there are a series of steps for you to follow.

First you had to buy 6 items: A pack of tea, A pack of crackers, Joss papers, A tailsman (接引贵人符), 2 candles and a pack of incense sticks.

Then starting from 1, you follow the signs and directions to complete all 12 altars.
An interesting thing to note is not all deities are Chinese.  Some of them are the Hindu Gods too. It is indeed a worthy sight to see some racial integration in religion and somehow I concluded it had been a right choice to finally follow my parents to this temple which I ran past before.

After that you trail your fingers around this wheel of fortune (as I called it)

Before dropping your coin into your respective horoscope slot.

Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastry is actually a tourist attraction spot.  And the place is indeed very big.  How big you would ask.  Big enough to even have a pagoda haha.. which is the main bait why I had wanted to tag along all these while. I like the bells hanging...

However, the main activity is concentrated only in its Cheng Huang Miao (城隍庙). Steps to pray here are a bit more fuzzy so I ended up just "Monkey see monkey do".

Oh and at here, I decided to take a close-up of the tailsman. 接引贵人符 seems to be more in-depth than the normal pray/burn taught by my mum. Read here for more info on it. I shall have to find time to see the tailsman again, hmm.
