Old Black Joe
- by Stephen Foster
Gone are the days
When my heart was young and gay.
Gone are my friends
From the cotton fields away.
Gone from this place,
To a better land I know.
I hear their gentle voices calling:
Old Black Joe
Chorus:
I'm coming, I'm coming
For my head is bending low
I hear their gentle voices calling
Old Black Joe.
Why do I weep
When my heart should feel no pain
Why do I sigh
That my friends come not again
Grieving for forms
Now departed long ago
I hear their gentle voices calling:
Old Black Joe.
Chorus:
I'm coming, I'm coming
For my head is bending low
I hear their gentle voices calling
Old Black Joe.
Where are the hearts
Once so happy and so free
The children so dear
That I held upon my knee
Gone to the shore
Where my soul has longed to go
I hear their gentle voices calling:
Old Black Joe.
Chorus:
I'm coming, I'm coming
For my head is bending low
I hear their gentle voices calling
Old Black Joe.
p/s: Was it a happy ending? After realising that Dai Yang Tian is younger than me, I concentrated on Michael Tong.. only to realise he is very much older. It is like how I watched 100% Senorita and focus on Deric Wan only to realise he is so much older too. Darnz! They simply look pretty good with the actress (Rain Lee & Chen Qiao En respectively) that I did not realise how big the age gap was. Else is I'm just too into older guys.. of which I think I must put a stop to it! But if I have a partner like Michael Tong whose love was never ending, I think all vengenace will indeed be melted into thin air.. so.. was it a happy ending?
