Was reading a friend's note on her granddad's death in 2001 which triggered my own memories of seeing my granddad's death. And I left such a comment for her "treasure the present so that we can cherish the memories. It is the only gift our close ones give us."

Indeed, in life, what really matters is the present. And what you should focus is on the positive things. Most importantly, what you should remember is your drive and not your motivation. Because motivation does not last, drive does!
