Problems are a gift

Source: Tony Robbin

There is a joke on what SAP stands for - Solve All Problems.. create new one.

But beneath this joke is an undeniable truth. Tony Robbin asked what happens when a problem occur. Initial response is to ignore or blame others. Then when the blaming game ends, to solve the problem, you create solutions which create change which create more problems.

In other words, problems are never-ending. And that the only problem is you believe you should not have problem. Thus Tony Robbin felt that we should perceive problems are a sign of life. The secret is not to solve all our problems; rather it’s to learn to see them as gifts - an opportunity to learn, grow and give more to those around us.

It so happen that before that, I was reading an article “My First Day in a Refugee Camp” by Patricia Rita Nunis and she said something that I felt I could relate to.

"There was so much to do. I really did not know how I was going to do it. Then I realised - it was no longer about me. I was only there to make it possible for Lam and his countrymen to rebuild their lives in their own way, with their own dreams. I would do my best to get them the resources they needed. Then I would get out of the way."

That plus the fact that I finished a Korean drama “回来吧顺爱” on how a wife and the mistress exchange body due to some heated argument thus making each other really putting herself into each other’s shoes. Helps to understand why the husband had an affair, why the “other” woman came into picture (nobody will want to break up a happy family in their right mind I believed). Most importantly, helps to understand about betrayals.. and trust… which is something that was bogging me the whole weekend.

My conclusion? Haha that at different angles, you see the same matter differently. And trying to solve it only creates more problems. But one cannot fathom a life without problems. Most importantly, and something I believed in, that what I really want to do is to just get out of the way haha.
