Yesterday a colleague brought some fruits. And one of them is this hairless Rambutan haha… Thanks to him, I actually attended a mini lesson on Rambutan. I never knew that “Rambut” means hair in Malay. And because of the hair, Rambutan got his name.
Anyway this hairless relative is called Pulasan. (Chinese called it something like Pu Tao San, sounds very much like Grape-San or something… and we thought maybe it will start with Grape haha).
And this wiki entry has some mis-facts.
1. Pulasan’s flesh sticks to the seed unlike Rambutan which if you are lucky to have bought good quality ones, will not have flesh sticking to the seed at all.
2. Pulasan is definitely not as juicy as Rambutan.
But maybe it is just different people’s opinions? I’m just glad I attended this mini lesson though. It was fun haha.
