Finally watched the last season of SATC. At the end, Carrie said this :
"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."
And it really set me thinking, maybe the last time on what relationship is for. It is just there for you to cherish and appreciate it.
Halfway down the season, I was at this one episode where Carrie commented about nit-picking on Jack Burger. Reminded me what my friend had asked me a few days ago. And reinforced me that we really are critical at people we loved, which is so unfair actually. Also reminded me that many episodes ago, Carrie was so self-critical of herself i.e. every human being is a self-critic.
Another thing that occured to me is the fact that Carrie took 6 years to go back one big round and get hitched up with Mr. Big. Is life really a roundabout? Yet one knows that if not for the 6 years events, they might never have get together. Sometimes, like what Charlotte says, things happen for a reason. And other times, you just do not need to find a reason for events that happen.
Maybe the 6 years changed each other's ideas and thinking and personality. Afterall one is expected to be wiser as the years go by until the age of elderly where you get down with stroke and alzheimer and other age old illness.
And even with all these illness and events, one knows that a relationship can last if it has weathered enough storms :)
